The Irish Fiddlers Retreat Experience

Retreats run throughout the year. Email us at and let us know your playing level and background, date preferences and we will let you know our available.

This programme is dedicated to anyone interested in learning how to play or improve their Irish Music Style of playing. Your teacher will give you specific directions and guidance in a gentle and effective fashion during the course of your Irish Fiddle workshops - tuition Monday to Friday.

Morning times are centred around learning traditional Irish music. The tunes, techniques and stylistic features that make the tunes sound uniquely Irish are the focus of the classes. Tune content is based on playing ability levels to enable students progress their playing.

All levels of players are welcomed onto the different courses designed especially for the varying ability levels, from absolute beginner to professional players. There is no need to worry about being out of your depth as you will be placed in a class that best suits the level of playing ability.

A relaxed and informal class setting ensures a comfortable, supportive, fun and progressive learning environment.

Guests are welcome to relax and practice their music during the afternoons both indoors or outside while enjoying the tranquility of the gardens. Alternatively you can explore the country roads nearby the house, immerse yourself in books from our library, watch a movie etc. It is a 20 minute walk to Thurles town. If you choose to hire a car and explore the region on your own we will give you assistance on planning your route. A well planned suggested itinerary ensures you make the most of your time, learning, exploring, absorbing and enjoying a truly unique Irish holiday. If you wish to get involved in the night time sessions that take place in the locality and can play tunes at a reasonable pace, there will be opportunities to join other Irish musicians during the night time music sessions.
